Unified Patent Court: Milan’s candidacy is official
The Presidency of the Council of Ministers has formalized Milan’s candidacy to host the Unified Patent Court (TUB). Italy, asserting the full “weight” of its manufacturing system and with all its paperwork in order in terms of number of patents filed, has long been a candidate for Milan to host one of the three central offices of the future court (moved from London due to Brexit) which will have to resolve, with sentences that will have “jurisdiction” in all EU countries for the first time, disputes relating to patents and the protection of intellectual property.
In addition to Italy, there are applications from the Netherlands and Denmark, just as it cannot be ruled out that it would lead to an absorption of the third headquarters by one of the two already existing ones (the aforementioned Paris and Munich).
Currently, there are two other locations already designated, namely Paris (headquarters) and Munich.
